Nasha Winters... In 1991 Nasha Winters was on her way to becoming a conventional medical doctor when her own life threatening illness intervened and sent her onto a new path to pursue the field of Naturopathic Medicine. Originally drawn to working with addictions in the Native American population as a Certified Addictions Counselor, Nasha got exposed to traditional Native American healing practices that stimulated her interest in traditional medicine from around the world. She has spent many years traveling through Europe, Northern Africa, the Middle East, Asia, India and Mexico, studying with a variety of healers and exploring diverse perspectives on healthcare. In 1995 Nasha graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and minor in Biology. She is working on a grant to begin servicing the native people in and around her community with an emphasis on addictions and diabetes. Dr. Winters took over her esteemed-colleague, Louise Edwards, ND, L.Ac practice in 2004 and plans to carry on the vision of the center: to blend ancient wisdom with modern science to bring individuals back to balance in mind, body and spirit. He studied the history of art and culture of Western civilization at the Florida State International University in Florence, Italy, traditional Eastern arts at the Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado, modern society at the New School for Social Research in New York City, and biological science at Southern Oregon University in Ashland, Oregon in order to more fully understand the human condition before finally enrolling at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Oley had the opportunity to practice in several different fields during his clinical internship. He was able to work alongside western medical doctors at the Richmond Center for Family Medicine, treat addiction, detoxification, and withdrawal at the Washington County Correctional Facility, and assist the elderly at the Hollywood Senior Center. In 2005 he graduated from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine with a Masters degree in Chinese Medicine and is a NCCAOM certified Diplomate of Oriental Medicine with a focus in Chinese herbology and acupuncture. After graduation from OCOM, Oley had the opportunity to travel to Nanjing, China and participate in a clinical internship at the Nanjing International University of Traditional Chinese Medicine where he was able to work in a Chinese hospital alongside the famous doctor "Flying Needle" Wang Ning Sheng. During this time in China Oley became certified by the World Health Organization in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. During treatment Oley utilizes methods of diagnosis and treatment from the various traditions of Oriental Medicine that he has been trained in including Eight Principle, Five Element, Shiatsu, and Qi Gong therapies. He believes that the limits to what can be treated by Oriental Medicine exist in the practitioner and not in the medicine itself. The process of healing is a journey that leads the individual back to their original nature with balanced functioning throughout the body mind and spirit. If you are willing to walk this path we are here to help guide you. • • •
In her quest for knowledge regarding alternative medicine therapies, Stacy happened to find an internet entry about naturopathic medicine…or did it find her? She was so elated to find that there were ways to integrate her love for plants and nutrition with her passion for healing! She headed west to continue the journey at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ. In this setting she had the opportunity to train with many different physicians who nurtured their patients using herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture and nutritional therapies. These healers treated a wide range of acute and chronic diseases. She also had the opportunity to learn about addictions and mental health issues ranging from acute care at the Mission of Mercy, to the chronically ill patients at AIDS Project AZ. Dr. Riseborough’s total healthcare experience spans over 20 years, including 10 years working in the conventional hospital setting prior to attending naturopathic medical school. She is extremely grateful for that time she spent working in the hospital because it gave her a sense of satisfaction and appreciation in caring for people. However, she soon learned that despite all of the advances that have been made in modern medicine, there were still too many people with chronic diseases that were not being helped. Her basic philosophy includes helping others discover the root cause of symptoms and addressing the person as a whole body, mind and spirit in order to help the body heal itself. She believes that the best way to accomplish this goal is by blending together the best of our time-honored nature cures, such as herbal medicine, hydrotherapy, homeopathy, and nutritional therapies, with more recent advances in medicine such as neurotransmitter testing and colored light therapy. Dr. Riseborough earned her B.S. in dual majors of Biology and Health Care Management from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1993. She graduated from Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2004 and established a busy private practice in Phoenix. Stacy is extremely excited and honored to join the very talented practitioners at Namaste Health Center. She continues to hold a license to practice Naturopathic Medicine from Arizona and specializes in working with patients who are struggling with chronic fatigue, auto-immune disorders, digestive disturbances, hormone imbalances, allergies, and acute or chronic stress. Dr. Riseborough has a family practice and enjoys helping people of all ages along their path to optimal health. • • •

My personal goals involve studying herbalism with the Southwest School of Botanical Medicine through their distance learning program. After completion of this course I hope to apprentice with local herbalists and of course my mentors here at Namaste and eventually practice as a Clinical Herbalist. I also have a love and appreciation of my work with Reiki and hope to incorporate herbalism with Reiki healing. Who knows, maybe years down the road I’ll be known as the “Herb Goddess”! When I’m not at Namaste I love to garden, read and enjoy new adventures with the love of my life Kevin at our home in Aztec, NM. I am also the mother of two adult daughters and grandmother of two wonderful girls Mallory and Lily who are the other loves of my life! • • •
