Dr. Julie Stears - Special for June
Although many of you know that Dr. Julie has joined our practice this year, there are still many people who haven't had the opportunity to meet her yet. The following is Julie's bio for all of you to become familiar with and read on for a special offer from Julie!
Dr. Julie Stears ND is a licensed Naturopathic Physician who focuses on Women's and Children's health. Dr. Stears graduated from Northern Arizona University with a degree in Community Health Education in 1993. She continued her education at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe Arizona and graduated in 2000. After graduating from Naturopathic school she traveled to the Rainforest of Peru to study medicinal plants, specifically Cat's claw and other plants which are high in flavanoids.
Back in the United States Dr. Stears began private practice in Prescott and Flagstaff, Arizona. Her practice mainly focused on Women's health providing annual exams and naturopathic treatments for women's health issues such as: endometriosis, chronic urinary tract infections, fibroids, osteoporosis and menopausal support.
Dr. Stears has taught classes in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, First Aid, Epidemiology and Public Health as well as lecturing in the community on a variety of health topics. Her background in health education is very much a part of her work as she seeks to empower her patients in truly owning their health through understanding and having the tools to reach a new level of well being.

2008 Year of the Earth Rat - by Oley Smith
This is no sewer rat. It's more like a clever mouse. Quick witted and resourceful, able to make a choice and move forward. In some Rat years this can be problem. Jumping quickly to one thing and then the next, not completing anything after exerting so much energy. This however is not one of those years, which is good for us. This is the year of the Earth Rat.
Earth brings stability, center, and groundedness to our choices and decisions. When we step out into the unknown we find there is Earth beneath our feet. The Rat is a Water animal. Water can irrigate Earth and facilitate new growth or stagnate to form mudpuddles and quicksand . Earth can channel Water providing direction and steady flow or it can be as
concrete and halt the flow completely. I see the dynamic of the Year of the Earth Rat like this: Standing on one side of a river and needing to cross we step out onto a little mound of grass and dirt. As soon as we do the mound starts to tremble and fall away from under us. If we do nothing we will fall into the water. If we jump forward we'll land on another little mound of grass and dirt, right on time.
If there is something that needs to be done, perhaps something that has needed to happen for a long time, this is a good year to move forward with such things. If not, the pattern can set deeper. Even if it seems like the Earth is falling away from beneath your feet know that you will be supported.
Springtime in the Year of the Earth Rat is an ideal time to reflect upon your situation. Does anything about your job, relationship, home, health, or otherwise need to be addressed? What is the plan for the upcoming year? The ground is fertile for planting seeds. What would you like to see bloom? |
